
| Jonathan P. Barstow was one of only ten attorneys (out of more than 30,000 in the state of Michigan) hailed as “Lawyer of the Year” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 1999. He was also featured on “Ask the Lawyers” on Public TV 13 in Marquette, Michigan on several occasions concerning elder law and the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. Barstow is a former member of the Board of Directors of the River Cities Chamber of Commerce and the former president of the River Cities Concert Association. He has been a head coach in both the Escanaba Area Junior Hockey Association and the M&M Youth Hockey Association. Above and beyond coaching, Barstow has also been involved with the West Shore Chorale, Theater on the Bay, the Community Jazz Ensemble, and the Menominee Public Schools. In addition, he is a recipient of the “Dads Making a Difference Award” from the M&M Fatherhood Alliance. Mr. Barstow is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School where he received Dean’s List recognition and has been practicing since 1986. His areas of emphasis are in elder law, including Medicaid “nursing home” planning, estate planning and probate, family law, real estate, and general civil litigation. |

| Elizabeth A. LaCosse, formerly Elizabeth Paczesny, was a prosecuting attorney for twelve years in various counties in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Currently, LaCosse is the first Upper Peninsula attorney to be on the board of directors for CDAM (Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan. LaCosse is a 2007 graduate of CDAM Trial College and works cases across the Upper Peninsula. She has appeared on Court TV and A&E Network’s “American Justice” for an infamous murder case in Ontonagon County in which she was victorious against one of the best criminal defense attorneys in the Upper Peninsula. Following its excitement and high-profile status, a book entitled “The Sweater Letter” was written by Dave Distel of Los Angeles about the landmark case. LaCosse has been active in organizations such as the Jaycees, Kiwanis, Delta County Business and Professional Women’s Club, and Big Brothers & Big Sisters of the Bay Area. When she is not working, LaCosse enjoys golfing, camping, and other outdoor activities. Ms. LaCosse is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she received the honor of Cum Laude and has been practicing since 1992. Her areas of emphasis are in criminal law, domestic relations, and general litigation. |
