Thank you for your interest in our firm; we hope that you find this site to be helpful
and convenient. Since the founding of the firm in 1997, we at Barstow & LaCosse
have dedicated our practice to the best interests of the individual. The terms
personable, compassionate and legal profession tend not to be associated; however,
these attributes, along with professional excellence, are what we at Barstow &
LaCosse pride ourselves in. We believe that by balancing compassion with
competence we are able to achieve a successful formula both inside and outside of
the courtroom.
The Law Office of Jonathan P. Barstow, P.C., was founded by Attorney Jonathan
P. Barstow in Menominee, Michigan in 1997. In 2005, we opened a sister firm in
Escanaba, Michigan and brought aboard Elizabeth A. LaCosse. In 2008, the firm
changed its name to that of Barstow & LaCosse after Attorney LaCosse became a
shareholder. Since opening our second office in Escanaba, Michigan and bringing on
a second attorney, we have seen a significant growth in clientele and case load due
to our extensive coverage of counties across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The attorneys at Barstow & LaCosse have the knowledge and experience necessary
for success in a wide range of legal matters. Mr. Barstow is licensed to practice in
all Michigan State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of
Michigan. Barstow is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Elder Law and
Family Law sections and a member of NAELA (National Academy of Elder Law
Attorneys). Ms. LaCosse is licensed to practice in all Michigan State Courts and the
U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, the Sault Ste. Marie
Chippewa Tribal Court, and the Hannahville Tribal Court. Ms. LaCosse is a member
of the State Bar of Michigan’s Family Law and Criminal Law sections and is also a
member of NACDL (National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers) and CDAM
(Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan).
